Voulunteer's Voice - Laura Stoerzer - (Working with the girls together in groups)

To organize our time and skills better, we split the girls into three groups with seven children for each volunteer.  This helps us because now we can give individual attention apart from spending concentrated efforts on their weaker areas.

Learning English is not a big deal to our girls at the Hope House

Radhika – a 12th grader now, was referred to us by the local hospital’s Social Worker because she couldn’t bear to see the plight of her struggles.  She was working to support the family with a sickly mother when she was supposed to be going to school.

Each New Year, at the Hope House, we pick a theme and stick to it for the entire year.  It was to “Learn to communicate in English” in 2013 and to “learn about vocations” in 2014 and we chose 2015 to be a year to learn more about ‘Arts & Science”.

Thank you for your support

My dear friends,
Now that the fundraising is behind us, I want to reflect on what has happened in these 51 days of annual fundraising. When we started, we knew that we had to depend on every resource and tool out there to reach out to people with a very small team of people working. We set a very ambitious goal for ourselves to reach after due deliberations.

True Diwali Celebration at the Hope House

Just a day before the Diwali day we had a guest at the Hope House and he truly brought light with him to convey the true meaning of Diwali. His name is Sumantha Ranjan Das.

Maria Sweety's 5th birthday

On October the 12th, 2014, we celebrated the birthday of a very special child of the Hope House - Maria Sweety. She came to us when she was only one and half years old and today she is five.

A priceless gift from a very special individual

During our annual fundraising, I received an email and it is something that we didn't expect because there was a priceless gift that was offered that we never thought that it would come so soon.

Help us once and support us in perpetuity

When we started the children’s home in 2005, we didn’t have our own facility so we rented a residential building and what we knew then was that our electricity billing was done on the landlord’s name which was classified as ‘domestic’ which is heavily subsidized and the rates were low.  Now that we have moved into our own building and we are confronted with a rude shock.

Volunteers Voice - Ishan Sahu

I am really someone with meager talents and am most definitely not an impressive person.  What these girls gave me was something small, but huge to me.  It was the ability to get up in the morning, put a cape on, and act like a superhero.

Volunteers Voice - Laurie Wen

"What did I expect Hope House to be? Perhaps at the far end of my expectations I imagined a safe, warm, loving place for girls to grow up. It seemed to me that this would already be remarkable. But what I found was that I’d suffered from low expectations. The girls themselves don’t have that problem. Being a safe, warm, loving place is just the first step; Hope House goes far beyond it.

A gift from the gifted

It was in the last week of July, 2014, we received an email from someone expressing his desire to visit the Hope House.  After exchanging few mails and phone calls, a 20 year old young Indian descent American exchange student visited the Hope House.

Volunteers Voice - Shashank Agrawal

There are a total of 23 girls in the age range of 1-18 including 2 especially abled children. We introduced ourselves and then the girls introduced themselves by telling us about their names and what they aspire to be in the future. The eyes of each one present there gleamed with a sense of joy and confidence as they spoke about their dreams.

Roja Krishnan wins a national scholarship

This news (students winning merit scholarships) at the Hope House is becoming repititive and we are not complaining about it.  Last year, Chinthamani won it and this year we have a new winner - Roja Krishnan.
