On October the 12th, 2014, we celebrated the birthday of a very special child of the Hope House - Maria Sweety. She came to us when she was only one and half years old and today she is five.
Unlike any child of her age in 2011 (she was the youngest child of the Hope House then), her mode of mobility was to roll on the floor and way of communication was by head nod and shakes.
Today, after countless hours of physiotherapy, doctors office visits, careful nurturing by the staff and love and affection showered upon her by her home sisters, she is a child like any child out there. She walks all by herself, communicates very clearly (sometimes more than we want her to like any of our children do) and does most of the activities with few limitations.
We make our environment at the Hope House as close to a home as possibly could but we know that it is not a home for her (with a mommy and a daddy). We have been knocking on every door that we possibly could and we'll continue to do so till we find one.
Every time we faced a disappointment with our efforts, it is Maria and Maria alone reminds us with her little achievements (getting up on to a chair, standing up from the lying position all by herself) not to give up on her. We won't promise the future but most certainly assure her of our efforts in the present.
If you want to play a part in helping Maria find a home, least you can do is to spread the word around by posting this on your wall. We say THANK YOU in advance for doing so. You can also consider supporting Maria and many other children like Maria at the Hope House.
Dear Maria Sweety darling, we all wish you a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY da. Have a fun filled day.
