Thank you for your support

My dear friends,
Now that the fundraising is behind us, I want to reflect on what has happened in these 51 days of annual fundraising. When we started, we knew that we had to depend on every resource and tool out there to reach out to people with a very small team of people working. We set a very ambitious goal for ourselves to reach after due deliberations.

We partnered with GiveIndia because of few advantages it gives. Firstly, they give us credibility. It is one of the most difficult organizations for NGO’s (non-profits in the US) to get listed with. In perspective, there are 3 million NGO’s in India but GI supports only 200 after a grueling listing process and we are proud that we are one among them. Then, they have a secure online donation platform and an automatic instant tax receipt giving provision on our behalf (in India, US and the UK) which was an advantage we could least afford to ignore.

It was the most humbling experience that I had been through in these 51 days. I could list so many instances of unprecedented generosity towards the Hope House. An ailing elderly widow working her computer tirelessly from home to raise more than Rs. 30,000/- offline, a person of influence working in a reputed institution worked so hard for the Hope House online that her family called her interest ‘obsession’ and a special needs child of the Hope House donating 500 rupees (all on her own) and the list goes on.

So the obvious question I asked myself is WHY? Why do so many people want to support us? After thinking it over for a couple of hours, my answer is clear. All of our supporters do care for the children that needs care and protection as much as we do but at a different level and scale. Our supporters are no different from those of us that are working directly with the children. That means you’re not an outsider but an insider. You’re not a lender of support but a stakeholder. Our relationship is not a onetime business but a constant and continuous process to reach out to the vulnerable and distressed children in our communities.

We want work hard to keep your trust that you have bestowed upon us with your resources so that this work sustains. It’s our promise to you that we’ll uphold the dignity of every child that we work with and continuously raise the bar of standard of care that we render to the children we serve.

Last but not the least; I do want to thank YOU for being there for us when we needed you the most. I also want to thank God my savior for being with us at every step of our fundraising and we couldn’t have done it without His constant protection and guidance.

God Bless.
Ruby
