2015 – A year of ‘Arts & Science

Each New Year, at the Hope House, we pick a theme and stick to it for the entire year.  It was to “Learn to communicate in English” in 2013 and to “learn about vocations” in 2014 and we chose 2015 to be a year to learn more about ‘Arts & Science”.

This is how we plan to do it:  In the morning of third or fourth Saturday of each month, children will demonstrate science experiments in the chosen field for the month (Physics for the month of January).  They ought not just demonstrate but also explain the principle behind the experiment.  Each student will receive a certificate of participation

And in the evening, children will have an opportunity to demonstrate their artistic skills in the chosen field for the month (story tell for the month of January).  Story telling can be with/ without dialogues, with/ without costumes, and with placards etc.   Again, each student will receive a certificate of participation.

Each month a lump sum of Rs. 2000/- is available for all the children to utilize for their science experiments and for the art shows (with maximum cap being Rs. 200/- per child) on a first come first serve basis.  With the experience of the past two years, we are confident that this year too that the girls will learn newer things and expand the horizon of their thinking.

You can help in the following ways:  You can help the girls to pick and choose the right experiments and art shows.  Engage them in communications to help them express and learn the underlying principles etc.  Lastly, if you’re able, you can support them with the needed Rs. 2000/- for a month for experiments and art shows.
