At
the Hope House, we try to get sponsors for all our children for various
reasons. To begin with, it helps us with
the finances to keep the operations going but that’s not all of it. One other reason is to facilitate
communication between the sponsors and the children which we have seen to be a
catalyst in enabling the child to know that she is being loved.
One
challenge that we had struggled with was to keep the sponsors engaged with our
communications. With the amount of
workload we carry, sometimes we let our sponsors down and they began dropping
out. During our brainstorming sessions
to fix this problem, we felt that the solution might lie in the usage of technology.
We
advertised for someone to build an application that we wanted to call it as “Sponsor
Relations Management (SRM)”. We also
wanted someone to use the free tools of Zoho Corporation (www.zoho.com)
to build it. We zeroed in on a person
who calls himself “Zohologist” in France.
After
exchanging few emails, our zoholgist came up with an application and we engaged
few sponsors to test the product. We
encountered a problem of the application being password protected. Zohologist suggested that we write to zoho
support and request them to release our account from being password
protected. We just couldn’t believe that
a ‘for profit’ global enterprise would care to do such a thing to such a
minuscule ‘not for profit’ entity like ours.
We
thought there’s no harm in trying so we dropped an email. In four hours, we received an email telling
us that our account is been released and they’ve encouraged us with their kind
words. WE SAY A BIG THAN K YOU TO ZOHO
CORPORATION.
Now
our application is been launched where our sponsors have a dedicated site for
the child that they are supporting and from our end, in just a few clicks each
day, we update information.
There
are few more children that need sponsors and if you’re interested, write to us.
